What to pack for an 18 month, multi country gap year?

(First picture is not mine)

18 months is a rather long time to be travelling, covering many countries, many seasons and many different climates. So what am I going to cram into my 60 litre back pack for 18 months of travel? (Exciting update- I got a new travel backpack for Christmas so I now have 95 litres instead of 60! yay)

  • Phone and charger

  • Kindle and charger

  • Camera, lense and charger

  • Head phones and charger

  • Polaroid camera, spare polaroids and batteries

  • Power bank

  • Laptop and charger

  • Extension lead

  • Multi country adapter

Clothes

This is the most difficult part for me so I've had to break it down:

Hot climate

  • Towel shorts (great for over swimming costumes or on sweaty days)

  • Loose linen type trousers x2

  • Plain black and plain white vests

  • Loose over shirts (stop the mosquitoes getting stuck, stop sunburn and can use to layer on colder days/evenings!)

  • Memory sole, breathe-able waterproof shoes

  • Hat x2

  • Spaghetti strap dress (can use to layer on colder days/evenings)

  • Statement vests (nice pictures on the front or detailed backs etc)

  • Sandals

  • Pop socks/ankle socks

  • Swimsuits x2

  • Hareem pants x2

  • Denim shorts

Hiking and very active days

  • Hiking/walking boots

  • Waterproof coat

  • Yoga/exercise leggings

  • Walking socks

  • High impact bra

Cold climates

  • Zip up jacket

  • Hoodie

  • Black long sleeved and white long sleeved t-shirt

  • Jeans/Jeggings

  • Plain white t-shirt

  • Statement t-shirts (patterns and/or details)

  • Converse

  • Thick socks

Toiletries and medicines

  • Toothbrush and toothpaste

  • Reusable cotton buds

  • Reusable menstrual cup and cleaning wipes

  • Face wash

  • Spot cream

  • Bar of soap x4 (last longer than gels) and storage tin

  • Solid shampoo and conditioner and storage tins

  • Hair brush, bobbles and pins

  • Plasters

  • Paracetamol

  • Ibuprofen

  • Anti-diarrhea tablets

  • Anti-constipation tablets

  • Antihistamines

  • Mosquito/bug spray, cream, repellent etc

Other

  • Passport (duh)

  • Travel journal x2 (I have two that I want to use for this)

  • Safety lock (can use it on hostel shower doors etc to ensure no one can get in even if they have a key)

  • A false book to store my valuables in

  • Travel purse, variety of currency, debit card and cash passport card

  • Lonely planet travel guides and maps

  • Large towel

  • Underwear (obvs)

  • Clothes washing detergent for hand wash use

  • Limited statement jewellery pieces (2 necklaces, 2 bracelets and 1 ring. Not including my anti mosquito bracelets)

  • Travel cutlery kit and one tupperware box

  • Small waterproof bag to keep my valuables and electrical items in, inside my day bag

  • Filter water bottle

  • Folder with all the trip information, boarding passes and visas etc

Quite a lot to fit into one back pack, right? I'll be using my packing cubes and also taking a backpack/day bag on the plane. Is there any essentials you think I've missed off? Anything you would recommend? Please let me know!! Message me, comment down below or get in touch on instagram @bilbo.h
