Having lived in a city for the majority of my life, I've always dreamed of cosy cottages in the countryside. Ones that give pure Miss Marple and Midsummer Murders vibes!
Since August 2021 I have lived in Cheltenham, the heart of the Cotswolds, and no where does cottages better than the Cotswolds! This wide spread area provides plenty of voluptuous villages to give you the comfiest cottage stay. Below are some of favourite Cotswold villages.
Broadway
A lovely high-street sprinkled with cosy cottage pubs and traditional shops. A 5 minute drive on from the high street brings you to broadway tower where you can enjoy a gentle stroll and spot wild deer up on the hill.

Upper and lower slaughter
Ah, the slaughters! Despite their grizzly name, both of these villages provide a cosy, warm and welcoming atmosphere. They are situated on the top of, and at the bottom of, a hill (hence upper and lower). You can drive from one to the other in around 3 minutes or enjoy the gentle, scenic walk of around 20 minutes.
Stow-on-the-wold
A bigger village but still with all the comfy characteristics of a Cotswold village. A small river flows through the centre with stone bridges adorning it along the way. Peppered with small traditional stops and a stones throw away from some great attractions (like birdland park and gardens), stow-on-the-wold really is the best of both wolds (see what I did there?).
Side note- for anyone interested in Tolkein, the doors to St Edwards church are said to have inspired the Doors of Durin!!

Bibury
A classic village that will meet all of your Cotswold needs. The yellow stone cottages, the small pubs, the tiny post office come souvenir shop. It's got it all! Bibury can get very busy during peak times due to it's glorious golden cottages, trout farm and 4 star hotel.
