Our top five UK staycation destinations

The UK can offer a great mixture of city breaks, countryside getaways, seaside breaks and cosy cottage weekends. This is a quick fire blog of our favourite places for a staycation in the UK.

Brecon Beacons

Known as waterfall country, Brecon Beacons provides a stunning Welsh getaway.

Brecon is a stunning place for a weekend getaway. You can make of it what you want, you can take the steady scenic walks or you can endure the 4 hour long, 180 step staircase, rocky hillside hike to see the 4 falls. Great for solo travel, family holidays and couple getaways!

Yorkshire

A city full of culture and history, York provides an interesting and fun city getaway.

Yorkshire is a large area, but York itself is a small city that you can explore in a day. The surrounding areas of York are full of treasures to be discovered. Whether you camp, glamp, hostel or hotel it- you will enjoy your stay in York.

It's also a great city for Harry Potter fans, as the shambles is home to a handful of magical, Potter themed, shops. The entire city of York gives off strong Potter vibes, and some of the movies were filmed around Yorkshire.

Cotswolds

Cosy villages and scenic hikes, the Cotswolds provide a lovely mid-country getaway.

Not far from Oxford, London or Birmingham- the Cotswolds offer a great getaway without the miles of motorway. The villages show off their sandy brick cottages with pride, garnished with an array of colourful flowers. There are lots of beautiful villages to explore and even more stunning walks to do.

London

The heart of the UK, London provides a busy and exciting getaway.

London offers an amazing place for shopping and city sightseeing. There's plenty to do all across London, great street food in Camden and unique shops in Piccadilly. There's great history in London if you know where to look.

It's also the perfect spot for any Sherlock fans too! The tube stops right at baker street, allowing you to jump off and visit 221B for yourself. There's also a rather fabulous gift shop there.

Cornwall

A stunning seaside city, Cornwall provides a sandy and sunny getaway.

There are plenty of seaside towns to visit in the UK, but I much prefer down south! Somerset, Taunton and Minehead just to name a few. Cornwall, however, has something special about it. There is a good balance of beach and coastal walks, not to forget the town full of shops and pubs. The Jolly sailor is a firm favourite, once a week they do a sing-a-long sea shanty night.
